The FairTax.. What are your thoughts?
I'm curious as to how many people have heard of the FairTax. It's basically a tax system that would get rid of the IRS, promote economic growth, and let you keep more of your check. It's a flat sales tax of 27% on everything beyond basic necessities, like rent, food, clothes, etc. Only luxury items would be taxed. Everyone would recieve a "pre-bate" check in the mail, every month, for the amount you would have payed in taxes on necessities, depending on your income level. That means the poor pay little or no taxes, and the rich, when they want that yacht or that nice Benz pick up the tab. There would be no more income, social security, medicare, or state taxes. If you are thinking that it sounds too easy, think again, it has been endorsed by many distinguished economists as the best thing for America. The effort to push it through is being spearheaded by talk show radio host Neal Boortz and Congressman John Linder, GA (R). Here's a link to their website: a href="http://www.fairtax.or" rel="nofollow"http://www.fairtax.or/a
