Is it bad to go out with a guy over the internet?

I've been liking this guy for about a month. Hes my bestfriends cousin who lives in Anaheim and I live in Riverside. We talk to each other on myspace and on the phone and we are going to meet each other but we dont know when or where. He asked me out but I dont know if i should say yes or not.
