Just bought an edelbrock carb (1400 EGR) i have 71 el camino, non-EGR! will it cause problem?

i didnt check but i could have instead gotten the 1406 which is non-egr, which is actually a couple bucks cheaper. will the 1400 carb not work or cause any problems? i noticed that the difference between the two is a "canister vent", dont know wat it does. i also got an edelbrock EPS manifold (non-EGR). so shoudl i install the carb or send it back to get 1406?
