Can someone explain to me how pie charts work? Please help!?

I was reading this statistic which states lifelong vegetarians a 57 percent lower incidence of coronary heart disease compared to meat eaters". I want to put this into a a pie chart how do I do that? what is the other percentage? What does the other percentage or part of the pie represent? 43% of Americans. I'm confused.
